Did you know??... that the Department actually employs contractors to carry out 'notching' (read cutting with axe and poisoning) on large areas of unwanted trees - such as the fucken messy undergrowth trees and other stuff that gets in the way of an equal age Jarrah forest - so much easier to harvest then after all. They don't like folks to know that.
They also go all quiet when I ask them why the fuck they burn off in spring, when all the young are in nests or just out of pouches. Autumn burns would make more sense to me and make fuck all difference to them.
And, now we start fucken daylight saving again. What a load of shit. If ya want more daylight, or it fucks you up for dealing with the East, get up early. No need to change the clocks you dickheads. Fuck off. (As you have already been told in three fucking referendums on the subject you wormy, manipulating, self serving, parasitic cocksucking politician cunts ).

Your entry prompted me to look up the UN FAO forest statistics (they're the main keeper of international and comparative stats). I found that as of the late 1990s, Australia was still 20% forested (source here -- its from the Global Forest Resources Assessment 2000 report.
That's a lot higher than I thought. I thought I once heard Australia was less than 2 percent forested but that's apparently not correct. The same report (chapter 39) has North America as still 26% forested, and though old growth coverage is shrinking in the U.S., overall forest cover in the U.S. continues to rise (as it has been for decades, a somewhat counterintutitive fact) primarily because of "tree plantatations."

Arc. From what I have learnt, before the plague of "civilization" occurred here, the bush was expanding inland.
Now, as the bush is cleared, there is less air turbulence and added moisture from vegetation, hence resulting in less rain.
I'd suspect that our forest figures include plantations also. Poxy fucken pine and blue gums, cunts of things that they are.
Look up mining in the Canadian North. And this is mostly ABOVE the tree-line.
It's probably the same corporations ripping the guts out of your country too - glad I won't be around in a 100 years or so.
